Life by the Spirit

13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whateveryou want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.Galatians 5:13-18

Free will is one of the greatest gifts God gave us. He gave us the freedom to make our own choices. That means we can choose to live by the flesh or to live by the Spirit. As Christians we should choose to live by the Spirit, to be led by the Spirit.

Unfortunately, free will has also led to the demise and destruction of humanity and creation. Free will has led to poor decision making throughout our history. Free will has le
d to corruption, greed, infidelity, addiction, idolatry, pride, jealousy, hatred, war, a planet beyond repair (which was destroyed by man and is beyond repair by man alone) and many other poor decisions too many to mention.

One of the biggest failures that free will has led to is man-made religions. Religions that do not follow the full teachings of the Bible. Religions that adopt the teachings of man and not of the bible. This is the single worst decision you can make is to choose to be trapped by a particular man-made religion.

Do not be trapped by religion. Be freed by using your God given free will to follow Jesus.

The best advice you can follow is to be led by the Spirit, to discern through the Spirit, to let the Spirit intercede for you, to follow the teachings of the Bible and no other man-made teachings. Gods word is the only truth we should choose. Choose to love Jesus. Choose to love each other. Choose the Spirit.

Facing Fear

1 Be merciful to me, my God,    for my enemies are in hot pursuit;    all day long they press their attack.2 My adversaries pursue me all day long;    in their pride many are attacking me. 3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.4     In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid.    What can mere mortals do to…
